In 1984, the Taylor family presented the club with a trophy to be awarded for progress.
The 2016 recipient was Paul Thomas.
Paul has been swimming with us for nearly five years and quietly gets on with it in the ‘swimmers’ lane.
He has progressed greatly during his time with us and is now a very strong and capable swimmer.
Barbara Uphill was one of our early Tadpole members in the 1980s and her sister presented the Barbara Uphill Trophy to the Tadpoles in 1993 in her memory. The trophy is awarded annually for outstanding achievement.
In 2016, the award was presented to Maureen Saunders.
In 2015 Maureen (a founder member of The Tadpoles in 1982) had two very serious accidents and endured many months in hospital and rehabilitation units. She was very uncomplaining and accepting of her situation and was much missed by the Tadpoles who rely on her to check us all in on Thursdays.
She is now back at Tadpoles and swimming again, a great achievement.
For our more able swimmers, we record the number of lengths completed each week. The annual total is depicted on a certificate showing how far they would have swam across the English Channel, or along the River Thames.
